Sea Ice Safety Guide, SCINI Pilot, etc.
I have been working in Antarctica since 2007 supporting researchers to conduct field work. My jobs have taken me all over the continent, from Scott Base to the South Pole, Palmer Station and McMurdo Station. My main role with the SCINI-Penguin team is to ensure we travel and work safely on the sea-ice. Through December and January the sea-ice is warming rapidly, creating a dynamic and challenging working environment. My background as an engineer is put to use helping with technical issues, and my background in conservation ecology also comes in handy to understand and help with biological sampling. When I am not ‘on the ice’ I split my time between New Zealand, the US, and hiking or biking trips to developing countries.
