I began my research career developing new technologies to advance oceanographic science, i.e., designing small electronic tags for marine animals. After many years working in the lab fabricating sensors (and receiving a PhD in Marine Science), I wanted to do fieldwork and jumped at the opportunity to conduct research in Antarctica! This will be my second year on the ice with the SCINI team where my main work is to help determine the environmental factors and oceanographic features that affect the predators and prey found in McMurdo Sound. When not on the ice, I also work in the Zooplankton Ecology Lab at the University of South Florida conducting research in the Gulf of Mexico.
