Robert Pitman

Marine Ecologist

Bob has worked for NOAA Fisheries as a marine ecologist for over 25 years where his research interests have focused on marine birds, turtles and mammals. During the last 5 yrs however, he has worked almost exclusively on killer whale ecology and systematics, with a particular emphasis on Antarctic populations. Evidence based on outward appearances, feeding ecology, and genetics suggest that there may be several species of killer whales in the Southern Ocean and our challenge is to investigate that possibility.
